Tête-à-Tête

My work often presents a “story within a story”, or a meta-narrative that takes on a variety of forms such as the book, photography and video. Each series of work represents a distinct narrative, all do share, however, references to art history, cinema and its relationship to photography.

In a broader sense, the concepts reflect an ongoing interest in the psychological space between viewer and subject, and of course between the characters and environment presented in each narrative. The images correspond not only to physical spaces, in some cases defined by a juxtaposition of interior and exterior, but also to an emotional or psychological distance between photographer and the subject.
