Nebulae, A Collaboration with artist Victoria Burge

This text is from the colophon in the portfolio:

Nebulae was created collaboratively by Victoria Burge and Julianna Foster during the winter of 2012 and spring of 2013 in Philadelphia, PA.

The portfolio of prints by Victoria Burge represents imagined cloud interiors. These abstracted cross sections reflect upon how spaces react, activate, and correspond to one another; how the edge of a space marks both the beginning and the end of form.

The work pursues the inquiry into the interiority/exteriority of form further by exploring the textural possibilities of paper. Combining letterpress, silkscreen, relief and etching, these images create a variety of subtle impressions and surface dimensions.

The work is printed on a Vandercook SP20 and a Charles Brand Etching Press. The paper used for the print portfolio is Rives BFK and the typeface is Perpetua.

Cloud/Smoke, the book by Julianna Foster, is a selection of photographs depicting ethereal formations reminiscent of clouds. Atmospheric and mysterious, these images—derived from photographs taken with a smoke machine—capture the fleeting existence of vapor clouds to reveal a space within that is so rarely seen.

The book is 32 pages, 10 x 8 inches and digitally printed on pro-line, eggshell non-coated paper with a charcoal linen cover.

Thanks and gratitude to Tara O’Brien who designed and created the enclosure
and to Taylor Trussell for his writing contribution.
